In the world of elite infielding, many attributes are often overlooked, yet they play a crucial role in defining success. One area that is frequently neglected is steal coverage and the art of applying tags.
Even something as seemingly minor as arriving at the base late can make a significant difference in the outcome of a game. This often stems from poor pre-pitch planning, lack of pre-pitch anticipation, and ineffective pre-pitch communication among teammates. Being fully prepared and aware can turn a potential stolen base into an out, shifting the momentum in your favor.
It’s these little details that compound to create big results. Mastering the fundamentals, staying engaged in the game, and communicating effectively can elevate your performance and that of your entire team. Remember, little things make BIG things happen!

Rock Hill, South Carolina’s lead instructor, Kyle Harris, is nothing short of exceptional. His commitment to both the players and their parents goes beyond the field, with bi-weekly updates that keep parents informed of their children's progress, both academically and athletically. These updates provide valuable insight into the players' development and celebrate their victories—both large and small.
In one of his latest updates, Coach Harris shared a powerful message about resilience and consistency:
“Today your children showed ‘Grit’. We reminded them that a great day doesn’t mean anything if it’s not followed by more great days. In the same vein, a bad day doesn’t mean anything if it’s not followed by more bad days. Today, the boys picked themselves up, dusted off, and got right back on the gains train!”
This message encapsulates Coach Harris’s teaching philosophy—one that emphasizes perseverance, the importance of daily effort, and the mindset that true success is built through continuous improvement. He makes it a point to instill in the players that progress is not about perfection, but about showing up every day, ready to put in the work, even when it’s hard.
Parents appreciate Coach Harris’s transparency and dedication to keeping them in the loop. His updates don't just highlight the wins on the baseball field, but also reflect the character and mental toughness their children are developing. By focusing on building resilience and teaching them how to overcome challenges, Coach Harris is helping players succeed both in baseball and in life.

Very enthusiastic about Trosky Academy! ★★★★★
“In just one month at the Trosky Academy, John is a different player – athletically, mentally and spiritually! He went from a ‘guy with a lot of raw talent’ to a ‘player’. His confidence is up in all aspects of his life. He’s maintaining an A average in school and enjoys leading his academy teammates. We are VERY enthusiastic about this program!”

In our latest episode of Trosky Tuesdays with Nate Trosky, we break down the incredible throwing mechanics of Bobby Witt Jr., specifically focusing on how posture plays a crucial role in executing elite throws. Check out this highlight from the episode that will transform the way you approach infield plays!
"Witt Jr. goes to his right. When you throw, the posture of the play is stand up. Stand up to get leverage, right? He dies, stands up to get leverage. The posture of the play requires upright posture, okay? Ball to your left, posture is low, ball to your right, posture is high. That’s the
posture of the play. You don’t fight the posture of the play. That’s how you flow."
Nate Trosky
When Bobby Witt Jr. goes to his right, watch how his upright posture allows him to generate leverage for a powerful, precise throw. His ability to stay with the posture is what allows him to get rid of the ball so quickly and with such authority. Whether it's a short or long throw, the right
posture is key.
Ball to your Left: Low posture.
Ball to your Right: High Posture
The Flow? You ride the posture to maximize leverage and power.
Watch Bobby’s throw in the clip as his posture guides the ball up and out, delivering it straight as an arrow, with great carry, V-low, and spin—a bullet that leaves no doubt. This is a beautiful play and an excellent example of how posture is the foundation of all great throws.

At the age of 14, I got the chance to work privately with Coach Trosky. He introduced me to a way of training that completely changed the manner in which I went and go about getting better in the infield and competing. His teachings I've carried with me throughout my career at Stanford, and ultimately helped me get drafted in the first round by the Diamondbacks.

Hey Coach Nate, I just committed to the university of Arkansas. I want to let you know how much your training has impacted my life. Without you I wouldn’t be half the player that I am. Thank you so much and I hope to train with you again soon!” GYMR!

Coach Trosky and the Trosky program have had a profound impact on me as a person as well as a player. I look up to Nate and throughout the years, have realized how rare people like him are, especially in the game of baseball. His positive and unique influence has made a difference in my life and I’m truly grateful for that!
Growing up in the Bronx, NY I remember being 8 years old when my dad first introduced me to @Troskybaseball on YouTube and Social Media. Today, I am 2027 LSU commit and Perfect Game Gold Glover all thanks to the wisdom of Coach Trosky. Much love and respect for him. Stay “Suave"!
Coach Trosky has elevated my game not only physically with foot-work, arm strength, and functional strength but mentally most of all. Trosky baseball has given me the blueprint to success, providing me many opportunities like playing for Team USA and committing to Vanderbilt University!
I don’t know where I would be without my uncle Coach Trosky. He has taught me everything I know about the game of baseball and has helped me become the player and person I am today. I can write a book about what he’s done for me, GYMR!
I met coach Trosky the summer before my freshman year of HS. and since he has mentored me with my fielding and mental game. I’ve attended numerous zooms, one on one trainings and phone calls. I not only call Nate a coach but also a mentor and friend! I’m a better player by receiving everything he’s poured into me and use his teachings everyday from drill work to mental practices!
